Entrepreneurs who utilize digital marketing to increase sales in their businesses are not getting the results that they hoped for. Sales months that are in the six-figure sums are hard to come by while advertising costs keep increasing adding additional strain on the budget.

Their search for solutions leads them to traditional approaches that continue to yield the same results — crazy right? I guess some persons didn’t get the memo from Einstein.

In their cry for help, the question, “what am I doing wrong?” stands out and provides an opportunity for a teachable moment.

The following represents the top three things that they are doing wrong:

  1. Emphasizing the wrong elements of marketing

The key to increased profits does not lie in ‘closing’ but conversions. When the focus is targeted towards the wrong thing, losses are bound to happen. For those businesses that target leads through webinars, telemarketing, or face-to-face, the focus should shift from trying to talk to everyone to eliminating those that are less likely to buy what you’re selling. This is what the bigs boys do to make the big bucks.

2. Spending too much on advertising

Yes, making prospective clients aware of your products and services is important to making a profit. However, it does not have to cost you an arm, leg and your kidneys to make it happen. Some methods can be used to guarantee that you won’t spend additional costs on advertising and marketing.

3. Being narrow-minded

George Eliot said, “it is a narrow mind which cannot look at a subject from different points of view.”

Digital service providers have become victims of the “one-way’ syndrome. They have become so accustomed to doing this one way that seeing another method that can achieve better results is difficult. This has become their downfall.

For entrepreneurs to achieve financial freedom, they need to review common sales practices and change their perspectives.

Now that you know what you’ve been doing wrong, how can you make it right?

Knowledge is still power and arming yourself with the know-how to address these issues is the first step on the road to recovery. Seek professional help through a step-by-step process that teaches you how to focus on conversions and increase your sales without additional advertising costs.

Your approach to marketing needs to change and you need to understand human behavior and what motivates their spending habits. Bearing in mind that “a narrow mind eventually becomes so small that it allows you to go nowhere”, shift your thinking and try new things that will set you apart from your competitors and get you to move from earning 10k to 100k in a short space of time.
